This project is an exploration of writing and illustrating a narrative centered around the theme of health, drawing inspiration from Sérgio Godinho’s song A Paz, o Pão, Habitação, Saúde, Educação. The song encapsulates the fundamental pillars of a just society, offering a poignant reflection on what every individual deserves: peace, sustenance, housing, education, and health.
In this narrative, I sought to bring to life the essential concept of existence and the cyclical nature of life. The tree, the family, and the house serve as metaphors, symbolizing growth—not only of an individual but also of a community and society as a whole. These elements connect, illustrating the ways in which health is nurtured, passed down, and influenced by our surroundings and relationships.
The interplay between text and images creates a non-linear narrative, allowing for multiple layers of interpretation. This approach mirrors the complexity of life itself, where growth is not always linear, and health is deeply interconnected with the broader social fabric.
