I illustrated Let’s Discover the Portuguese National Library, written by Luísa Ducla Soares and published by the National Press (Imprensa Nacional – Casa da Moeda) with support from the National Library of Portugal and art direction by Pato Lógico.
With over 200 years of history, the Portuguese National Library has had several locations and names before settling into its current building in 1969.
Inside, books go through various stages—from disinfestation to cataloguing, restoration, and storage in the library’s tower. Readers also follow their journey through different spaces, including the reference room, general reading room, and specialized areas for reserved works, cartography, iconography, and music.

In this book, I've explored a special technique of combining four layers of direct Pantone offset colour. To achieve the final effect, I drew separately on separate layers, using overprint and knockout in favour of the result.
