Under the attentive artistic direction of André Letria, I illustrated the book Vamos Descobrir a Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal with text by Luísa Ducla Soares.
To develop this project, I had the opportunity to visit and get to know the National Library of Portugal and its spaces in detail, including the entrance, pest control, cataloguing and classification, restoration and conservation, and the storage tower, the reference room, the general reading room, the reserved reading room, the cartography room, the iconography room, and the music rooms, on a guided tour by the author of the text herself.
The visit, the interviews I conducted with the staff, and the recording of the processes directly on site helped me to create the illustrations in the best possible way.
The book, with forty-five illustrated spreads, results in a visit between the past and present of this institution, uniting the paths of the book with those of the reader.
